MarmarisMarmaris is situated between Bodrum and Dalaman airports, has its own castle and harbour. Marmaris has many modern hotels, and a market takes places on a Friday which supplements the already ample amount of shops for you to enjoy. During the evening the resort comes to life with an exiting array of bars, discos and night clubs to keep you entertained. Hisaronu & OvacikBoth resorts are close to each other in the hills near Olu Deniz, the surrounding area consists of pine forests and beautiful countryside. Both these resorts are very popular with British guests, and many travellers end up settling in the area. There is a wide selection of restaurants, bars and pubs to suite all tastes. Out of the two resorts Hisaronu tends to be the busiest, as most of the shops, bars and restaurants are situated around one main street. There’s a weekly market at the top of the village which can be a good place to buy gifts to take home. IcmelerIcmeler is situated between both Bodrum and Dalaman airports, and is a small developing resort with plenty of modern hotels and B&B’s. Although a small resort, there are surprisingly plenty of souvenir shops and supermarkets to cater for your shopping needs. The beach offers lots of water sports and can get busy during peak periods. KusadasiKusadasi is roughly 52 miles from the airport. The harbour is a great place to see cruise ships, and there is a ferry service to the majority of the Greek islands. Kusadasi town centre is about 2 miles from the beaches, and man made beaches are reasonable and offer a good variety of water sports. Kusadasi has probably the largest selection of shops in all the resort areas. On an evening there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the harbour. AltinkumAltinkum is roughly 35 miles from Bodrum airport. Accommodation tends to make up of mainly B&B hotels. The beach at Altinkum is fabulous, with the sand being soft and sandy, and offers a great range of water sports. There are enough shops to cater for all your needs, and the night bring a huge amount of bars and cafes alive. AlanyaAlanya is about 75 miles from Antalya airport, and it must be noted that the resort is almost the size of a city. There are a huge amount of hotels, with most falling in the budget category. The beach offers a reasonable amount of water sports and the shopping experience is great as the narrow roads have a multitude of shops. As with other resorts the resort comes to live at night with a large selection of bars and restaurants. SideSide is about 50 miles from the airport. The beaches tend to be small and sandy, with some water sports on offer. The accommodation seems mainly to be in the budget category. At night there are a selection of bars and restaurants. GumbetGumbet is about 35 miles from the airport. There are bars and places to eat situated along the beach, and boat trips can be a great way to catch the sun. There are small souvenir shops and mini-markets, and nearby Bodrum has plenty more shops on offer. At night, there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Gumbet also has a casino for those who enjoy gambling. BodrumBodrum is about 30 miles from the airport, and a couple of miles from the nearby resort of Gumbet. The resort has a Castle as well as other archaeological sites to visit, however the resort doesn’t have it’s own beach. Accommodation consists mainly of small hotel, with the shops in the centre supplement by the street market on Thursdays and Fridays. The resort gets busy at night, as there are a huge selection of bars and cafes. |
