Costa Teguise

Costa Teguise is a purpose built resort, and is modern and well planned with a palm-dotted promenade and broad tree-lined avenues. The centre is designed in old-fashioned village style.

The resort is suitable to those who like a beach and pool. It's not ideal for those who like night life.

The accommodation in resort comprimises of medium sized apartments of avergage quality. There are a growing number of large scall high class hotels.

The beach is broad and crescent shaped, of fine light sand with protrusions of black volcanic rock. There are 2 large beaches and 2 small beaches.

There's a large variety of tourists shops and supermarkets in the centre, and on a Friday evening in Pueblo Marinero there's a market for hand-made products and silver.

During the days there's an 18 hole golf course, windsurfing, scuba centre, sailing and other water sports. Horse riding and a water park. During the night there is very little night life.

Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is mostly made up of modern, low rise structures, with some interesting variations on "typical" and "traditional" themes. Overall it's a smart, low density resort. Transport is usually required to get around.

The resort is suitable to those who like beaches, nightlight and bars. The resort is the islands biggest and most popular resort.

Accommodation in resort is generally bias towards apartments and self-catering, however there are a few good hotels.

The beach is long and wide with gold sand, and is flat and firm. The beach gently shelving into clean water.

For those who enjoy shopping there's the commercial centres, spaced along the main road parallel with the coast, which meet most day to day needs. There's at least 2 miles of shops and restaurants.

During the day there's tennis, squach, water sports, deep sea fishing, and mountain biking. During the night there's discos, live music bars and cocktail bars. This is definitely the most lively resort on the island.

In the old fishing port there are some tempting restaurants and tapas bars, but there are numerous alternatives spread throughout. They include fast food and international cuisine as well as local fair. The resort has the most widest choice on the island.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca stretches more than 5 miles along the coastline. In the small commercial centre, green shuttered white buildings line the attractive waterfront walk, with its old fashioned lampposts and pavement bars.

The resort is one of the less developed resorts on the island, so it suited to quiet family holidays.

The accommodation on the island are generally mid range self catering establishments. There is a growing number of quality hotels appearing and several large 4 star hotels.

The beach is pretty small, with a few stony patches and low cliffs of black rock. Playa Flamingo on the opposide side of the port has fine white sand. It's safe for swimming, as enclosed by man made groynes.

The resort has several supermarkets and gift shops, and there's a commercial centre by the harbour.

During the day there are several ferries to Fuerteventura and Papagayo. Water sports, scuba diving and a tour of the island. During the night it's pretty quiet with some music bars.

There are some tempting fish restaurants and bars near the waterfront. Chinese and Italian options are available at the harbour.
