Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands. It's characterised by rather austere, low, rounded mountains. The Island is pretty large, but it's population is only roughly 20,000 people, and is relatively undeveloped, which makes the island feel peacefull. Most of the beached on the coastline are fine. Puerto del Rosario is the largest town on the Island.

Holidays to Fuerteventura

Corralejo

Corralejo is the largest resort on the island, and the fishing village is still the heart, with newer buildings behind and to the side. The resort has a promenade with cafes and restaurants running alone the waterfront. Much of the architectural styling is tastefully done.

Corralejo is suitable for those who prioritise vast beaches and sunshine highly. With plenty of night life it's great for people who like to party. Other activities available include horse riding, mountain walking, windsurfing and diving.

There are more apartments and aparthotels than anything else in resort, most of which are modern, medium sized and of an avergage grading.

There is a central shopping street in the town centre with supermarkets and many shops. There is a large twice weekly market where local wickerwork pottery and embroidery are easily found.

During the day activities include water sports, diving, tennis and cycling. During the night it's mainly hotel based sports bars with dance floors, karaoke and quiz nights.

The resort offers a good choice of restaurants, and fresh fish is the speciality.

Costa Calma

Costa Calma is a purpose built sea, sun and sand resort, it's relatively small, and pleasant, with superb golden sand.

The resort is suitable to those who prefer a quiet holiday, families and couples lookings for simplicity.

Most of the accommodation are 3 - 4 star hotels and middle range apartments with a good range of facilities.

The resort's main beach, Playa de Sotavento, is a long stretch of soft, pale sand backed by a fairly narrow strip of dunes and lined with sun loungers and parasols; its calm, clear waters are safe for children. It is supposedly possible at low tide to walk the 18-ml stretch of idyllic beaches that edge the entire S coast of the peninsula. Winds can be bracing at times, usually more so in the afternoon, hence the resort's reputation as a prime wind-surfing destination, with best conditions in summer.

There are eight small commercial centres scattered around the resort, each with a handful of general sops and tourist outlets.

During the day activities include diving, wind surfing, tennis, volleyball and the beach. During the night it's fairly quiet with most evening entertainment being provided by the hotels.
